Counselling for neurodivergent adults
Welcome
Hello, I’m Amy. I’m an Autistic and ADHD integrative counsellor offering neuroaffirming, trauma-informed counselling, rooted in intersectional and anti-oppressive values.
You may be here looking for a counsellor who genuinely understands how to support and work with neurodivergent people. Many of the people I work with are Autistic, ADHD, or both, although you don’t need a diagnosis to work with me.
You could be navigating burnout, sensory overwhelm, or shifts in self-understanding following a diagnosis. You might also be a parent to neurodivergent children, carrying so much but left with little space to explore or meet your own needs.
Many neurodivergent people live with a deep sense of not belonging, feeling misunderstood or alone, even when they’re not physically isolated. For some, isolation isn’t just emotional. It’s shaped by caring responsibilities, chronic illness, or limited access to support. This can take a huge toll.
If you’re feeling tired of needing to explain or justify who you are in order to receive help, this is a space where you are welcomed, and your experiences are believed and validated.
How I work
My approach is integrative, person-centred, relational, and non-directive. In practice, this means that I won’t tell you who you are. As your counsellor, I’m actively engaged alongside you as you explore and make sense of things. I’ll offer structure where it’s helpful, ask questions, and reflect patterns, while staying attentive to your pace and needs.
I am warm, empathetic, and gently anarchic, meaning that I’m not invested in hierarchy or rigid ‘shoulds’, and I’m comfortable questioning rules that don’t serve you. I believe that counselling is most effective when it is a collaborative effort, led by what’s most important to you.
